| Superman had trouble with kryptonite. Batman was less then able when he caught sight of Catwoman. And for the Ottawa Senators they have hit a wall again and again when facing the Toronto Maple Leafs in the playoffs. Toronto has dominated the first three skirmishes in the Battle of Ontario, winning each time, including beating them 4-3 in their last meeting in the 2002 Eastern Conference semi-finals. The maddening thing about those past losses for Sens fans is that Toronto accomplished the feat despite the fact that Ottawa dominated in the regular season meetings. In 2003-4 that changed with Toronto going 4-1-1 against the Senators. The Leafs ended the season with a exclamation mark, shutting Ottawa out 6-0 to give goalie Ed Belfour his 74th career shutout. Injuries will play an important role in this match-up. Toronto is expected to miss forward Owen Nolan for the series and defenseman Ken Klee and forward Darcy Tucker are questionable for the first few games. More important to the Leafs will be the health of Belfour, who missed most of February with a bad back. Ottawa to win will also be concerned with goal, needing Patrick Lalime to step up and prove he is a premier netminder. |
